If one or both of you are playing via Xbox then start by using the Test Multiplayer Connection option and see what the results are. Or connect both directly using an Ethernet cable to your router. If that works then your wireless is the culprit. Connect your Xbox One to Xbox Live with a Windows PC

May 21, 2013 · Here is what I did. I have an Xbox One and two 360s all with open NAT. I use port triggering. Port forward can only open a port for one device on the local network. But port triggering listens to the ports you define in the settings and open them when they are needed. So disable UPnP, and set up a port triggering rule for each required port.
